HELLO! Thanks for stopping in! My name is Julia Worster and I am very excited to be teaching 6th grade math and science at Alder Creek Middle School again this year. My goal is to make math and science FUN and Engaging:-)
I completed my teacher education through Sierra Nevada College in 2009 and have taught middle school math and science at several different schools in the region, including public, charter and private. I love sharing my passion for both math and science with students and helping them achieve their true potential. I am very happy to have found a home at ACMS. I grew up in a small town south of Yosemite. This is where my love for the mountains and all their offerings began. My parents, three brothers and I spent summers backpacking through the back-country of the southern Sierra Nevada. Many of my fondest memories of my childhood come from those trips. I moved to the ocean for college attending UC Santa Barbara. Through my studies there, I earned a degree in Environmental Studies. After college I spent a few summers as a raft guide and naturalist on the the American River and spent winters in Truckee. My love for the outdoors has taken me on many adventures around the world including raft guiding in Norway and kayaking and rafting the White Nile of Uganda. I have been in the Tahoe/Truckee area since 2001, enjoying all the outdoor activities that the region has to offer. Some of my favorites are skiing, mountain biking , backpacking and stand-up paddle boarding. I have two children, Sage and Aurora, who have brought more joy to my life than I ever could have imagined. My husband, Lorenzo, is also a teacher. We both love spending our time outside of work sharing adventures with our children. |
